I had a scan yesterday and they said to drink no more than 400ml in the hour before the scan, they also suggest calling an hour before and checking to see if they are on time or not.Towards the end it was getting a bit uncomfortable but not painful.
They told me I didn't need any water prior to the scan, and I am still very early. They seemed to be able to get a reading fine without a full bladder.I had a very bad experience with my first pg when they (diff place to this one) told me to drink something like 1L of water an hour before, I was first appointment of the day...they turned up 15 minutes late and then kept me waiting for another 15 minutes before I could go in. The worst part of it was they offered me a coffee while I was waiting Each time I've been told to drink 500ml of non-gaseous fluid 1 hour before the scan.Early dating, nuchal screening, anomaly & growth are all available, as are maternal reassurance and bonding scans, 2D, 3D and 4D.When is the appropriate time for the scans to take place? We would recommend drinking one to two pints of water approximately 1 hour before the appointment if this is comfortable for you, please do not empty your bladder.
